Resort went from paper-based system to modern requisitioning overnight
May 12, 2011 — In a land of all-inclusive resorts, the Jewel Dunn’s River is, true
to its name, a standout. Yet when Ambridge Hospitality first took over the resort
in 2010 and reopened it in September, requisitions were handled manually for the
first six months. With the implementation of Adaco .NET, however, the resort’s purchasing
operations have been brought into the 21st century.
“Now I know how much I have to spend tomorrow,” said the Jewel Dunn’s River Executive
Chef Ravi Anne. “That is essential information because my budget is based on projected
occupancy,” explaining that he may not have known that figure when the ordering
day began under the manual system.
Jewel Dunn’s River sits on an unspoiled beach and supports four kitchens serving
five restaurants (including a 24-hour cafe) and five bars. Chef Ravi’s sous chef
does most of the ordering every morning. In total there are four kitchen professionals
who use the software.
“Management is happy because our budget is always aligned,” Chef Ravi says. With
Adaco, he says, it is possible to be more flexible in an all-inclusive environment—allotting
slightly more per person in low-occupancy months and a slightly less in high-occupancy
months—when bulk buying can stretch menus. “One thing is for sure, it is helping
me get control of my budget,” he said.
Chef Ravi’s favorite feature is the search function. “It’s the best thing ever,
don’t have to switch screens. When a product arrives I don’t have to search for
who ordered it and when—I just start typing a word and the item comes up automatically.”
Since deployment just 30 days ago it’s made requisitioning painless and more accurate.
“It’s very user-friendly, the screens are easy to read, the reports are very detailed.
Our cost controller agrees. She used to stay until sometimes 2:00 a.m. to post the
day’s orders. Now she leaves at a normal time, and this is a compliment to Adaco’s
capability,” said Dalton Francis, IT Manager for the Jewel Dunn’s River.
“The staff was eager to learn and grasped the possibilities of our platform quickly,”
said Eddie McDonough, Vice President of Sales for Adaco. “This helped Adaco better
understand the all-inclusive environment, as we are committed to long-term enhancements
based on our experience with our customers.”
